Artistic Residence: Luiza Leiva Embarks on a New Cycle at Casa 27+3

Visual artist Luiza Leiva has begun her artistic residency at Casa 27+3, an independent space that hosts artists’ studios, exhibitions, and the showroom of Origin Brazil — a furniture brand that also sponsors the initiative, offering a collaborative environment for research and experimentation to the residents.

During her residency, Luiza occupies one of the studios as a space for production, writing, and the development of new works. This residency aligns with her current research, which explores calligraphy as an ancestral gesture while delving into themes of language, time, and presence.

Set under a blooming tree in the lower yard of the house, her studio transforms into a fertile ground for visual investigations and the construction of a poetic practice involving gesture, material, and memory. The space will also function as an exhibition venue throughout the process, showcasing works in various stages of development.

This residency marks a new chapter in her journey, providing space for the deepening of her authorial work and fostering meaningful exchanges within the contemporary art scene.
